I had my pond cleaned and a new bio filter installed by Falling Waters in April 2010. Everything has worked great. I do not have a skimmer on this pond. For the past two weeks, big (and small) globs of algae pop off the rocks and the bottom of the pond. The globs float all over the pond and look gross! We have been netting this junk off of the water.
1. Is that our only option?
2. Will algae killer stop this from happening?
3. Will the uv lights kill this stuff? Should I leave the lights on until this activity stops?

We would like to net this pond to keep leaves out, but wouldn't be able to skim this junk off if we do net it.
Thanks for your help.

As a lighting designer and a small business owner of
louielighting.com I wanted to comment on the importance of lighting quality as it relates to our children and adults. I believe we should strive for more efficient lighting solutions in schools but I do also have a concern that mandating changes too fast and the hype that surrounds this issue may result in the wrong implementation of lighting solutions and in sacrifices in light quality that I believe is so important to our well being. It takes time for new technologies to mature and to be fully understood by the professionals like lighting designers, electrical engineers, architects, interior designers and the public in general. It takes time to experience the new lighting solutions in order to implement them correctly into our schools, homes and other lighting projects.
Caution needs to be practiced in banning traditional light sources and time needs to be given for the industry to transition so that our future does not look like those futuristic movies that show cold dark streets and spaces with blue green fluorescent or neon lights.
Respectfully,
Arie Louie

Originally I found you in one of my searches for Stonehenge replicas and imitations--I found a newspaper article online, then searched Falling Water Designs and found your websute. Then when you made this list and added our link, I was notified on the dashboard of my blog--I'm not sure how that happens, to tell you the truth! Anyway, thanks again for the link! :-)

Thanks for the link! Any chance we could ask to have that changed to say Clonehenge instead of Replicahenge? If not, we're still happy to have the link. :-) Let us know if you build any other Stonehenge-type things. We'll be glad to post them, too!
