Pond Cleaning & Pond Maintenance
We Thank you for considering a maintenance plan for your fish pond or water feature. You have invested a considerable amount of money in your fish pond or water feature and while they do not require a great deal of time or energy to maintain them, there are certain things that must be done each spring and autumn, and some things that should be done periodically during the growing season from April through October. You may not have the time or inclination to work on your own pond and therefore Falling Water Designs offers the following maintenance plan to simplify your life and ensure your enjoyment of your new pond or water feature.
Most ponds and water features require annual cleaning and water change in the spring. During the autumn and winter months, leaves and other organic matter falls into the water and sink to the bottom, and begin to decompose. To ensure fish health and water quality in the spring it’s a good idea to have the pond drained, scrubbed, and refilled. A Spring cleaning usually takes the better part of a day. Spring cleanings are billed by the visit. Falling Water Designs also does pond maintenance calls.

Click HereTowards the end of October as the water temperature drops to 50 degrees your biological filter stops functioning as the bacteria dies off, and your aquatic plants start to die back. Dead organic matter dropping to the bottom of the pond creates an anaerobic situation and releases gasses that can become toxic to fish. To ensure better water quality and preserve your investment certain tasks need to be done. The fall visit is billed by the hour and usually takes two or three hours.
