The term “Doitsu” (meaning German) refers to their unique genetics, while “Kohaku” signifies their classic two-color beauty, one of the most beloved patterns in the koi world.
Not only are they visually stunning, but Doitsu Kohaku are also known for their friendly and interactive nature.
When You’re Adding Fish to Your Pond, Don’t Forget the Essentials
Fish Food for the Season
We offer a wide selection of fish foods to suit your needs – from economical bulk fish food for everyday feeding to premium varieties used by professional koi breeders.
pH Test Kit
Maintaining water pH is crucial for healthy fish. Wild swings in pH are harmful and can stress or harm your fish, so regular testing is essential.
Ammonia Test Kit
Ammonia can disrupt your pond’s natural balance and pose serious health risks to your fish. By monitoring ammonia levels regularly, you can safeguard the health of your koi and ensure they have a long, happy life.

Hardy Water Lilies
These beautiful plants are perennials that survive cold winters (yep, they’re tougher than tropical lilies).
Hardy water lilies return each year from their rhizomes as long as the water doesn’t freeze solid.
Their floating flowers come in stunning colors like white, pink, yellow, and red.
Bonus: they bloom during the day—open in the morning and close by afternoon.
Hardiness: Perfect for USDA Zones 3-11.
Benefits:
- Add beauty to ponds & water features
- Provide shade + reduce algae
- Offer shelter in the pond ecosystem
- Attract pollinators like bees, butterflies, & hummingbird
The Wanvisa Water Lily is an award-winning hardy water lily cherished for its extraordinary, color-changing, variegated blooms. In addition to its striking beauty, what sets Wanvisa apart is its ability to thrive in a wide range of climates, from USDA Zones 3 to 11, making it one of the hardiest water lilies available.
To ensure vibrant blooms, Wanvisa requires at least six hours of direct sunlight daily. For planting, the rhizome should be positioned approximately 6 to 18 inches below the surface of the water, with heavy loam or aquatic planting soil providing the best foundation. Standard potting mixes should be avoided, as they tend to float or decompose in aquatic environments.
Purpletop Vervain (Verbena bonariensis)
Purpletop vervain is a tall, slender perennial featuring airy, see-through stems with clusters of lavender-purple flowers that bloom from summer to frost. Loved by butterflies, bees, and hummingbirds, this low-maintenance plant is ideal for adding height and texture to cottage gardens, borders, wildflower plantings, and prairie-style landscapes.
Key Features at a Glance:
- Height & Spread: Grows 3-6 ft. tall and 1-3 ft. wide.
- Pollinator Magnet: Provides nectar for butterflies, bees, and hummingbirds.
- Bloom Time: Flowers profusely from early summer to frost.
- Sun & Soil: Thrives in full sun and well-drained soil; tolerates poor or dry soils once established.
- Hardiness: Suitable for USDA Zones 7–11 and can self-seed in colder climates.
Royal Pickerel Rush
The Royal Pickerel Rush is a tall, eye-catching aquatic plant renowned for its stunning royal-blue flower spikes and lush, spearhead-shaped leaves. Blooming all summer long, it serves as an excellent natural water filter, balancing pond ecosystems while elevating the aesthetics of your water garden. Perfect for larger ponds, this hardy and low-maintenance plant thrives in full sun and is as functional as it is beautiful.
Key Features
- Hardiness: Grows successfully in USDA Zones 4–10, adapting to a wide range of climates.
- Water Depth: Thrives in shallow water, with roots submerged in 3–10 inches of water or kept in moist soil.
- Size: A robust grower that reaches impressive heights of 3–6 feet, acting as a structural centerpiece for any pond or water garden.
- Wildlife Benefits: Its nectar-rich blooms are a magnet for bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds, while submerged foliage provides valuable cover for young fish.
‘Mango Popsicle’ Red Hot Poker
The ‘Mango Popsicle’ Red Hot Poker is a compact, eye-catching perennial prized for its bright mango-orange, tubular blooms that flower continuously from early summer to early fall. This low-maintenance plant delivers bold color and pollinator-friendly benefits, making it a favorite for gardeners seeking tropical charm and long-lasting blooms.
Key Features
- Size: Grows 20–30 inches tall and 16–18 inches wide, making it a great option for both flower beds and containers.
- Sun & Soil Needs: Requires full sun (6+ hours daily) and well-drained soil to prevent crown rot.
