Recent Projects

For this month’s project our client had recently purchased their home and the front garden had been neglected. Dead grass and shrubs had overgrown the space and it didn’t help that they had a very narrow driveway. They wanted to be able to exit their vehicles without having to be stepping in the plants or soil. With that they asked that we create a garden that didn’t have any lawn but that was also inviting for their neighbors as everyone strolls by the home. april_before01 april_before02 Rick designed a garden that has a wide generous flagstone pathway up the middle of the garden.  The path intersects a small circular patio where they can sit and enjoy coffee or cocktails with their neighbors.  The front of the house is flat and with a southern exposure which will be very hot in the summer so Rick added a pergola off the front of the house to provide shade over the patio and to give depth to the façade of the house.  april_design A privacy screen to hide the trash containers, a small bubbling water feature, large boulders, lots of new soil, and appropriate plants were added to the design.  Along the edge of the driveway more flagstone was added to widen the space so they can exit their vehicles without stepping on plants or soil.  Low growing trees were installed that won’t grow too tall and block the view.  The color palette is burgundy, purple, orange, and yellow.  Once established all the plant material will thrive in the space with minimal watering required.
